About the Winemakers

The Monterosso winemaking team consists of 2 young dynamic winemakers with vastly different backgrounds and ideologies. Derek and Maryna met at Elsenburg Agricultural Institute where they both completed their studies in Viticulture and Oenology. Both winemakers worked at numerous cellars after university on a quest to find their own unique ideologies and winemaking philosophy.


Viticulture and Oenology philosophy

The bold winemaking team consists of a Left and right side of a brain. This allows for the imagination to create endlessly within a very logical and analytical safety harness which keeps the reality within sight. The wines benefit greatly as all aspects of a situation to be considered whether it be in the cellar or the vineyards.
