Our Wines

Built with passion for winemaking and respect for the land

The Monterosso Vineyards are comprised out of 10 cultivars spread over 63 Hectares. The vineyards are all farmed under the dry-land method where the vines do not receive any supplemented irrigation with exception of rain we receive from the sky. This fits in perfectly with our holistic approach to our farming practices. We work tirelessly to find more environmentally friendly alternatives to that currently being used around us to preserve our environment.

Notes
On the nose: lively green apples with light hints of kumquat awaken the senses. A mist covered spring morning in Stellenbosch comes to mind as aromas of wettened granite and lime soils become very noticeable. Palate: a subdued richness of earth along with reassuring acidity allows the Crouchen to stand out among other white cultivars. An extremely well-structured mid palate grounds the wine while a zesty finish cleanses the palate. By allowing the wine to go through a secondary fermentation, namely malolactic fermentation, we have ensured that a silky texture runs from the front to the hind palate. A rare cultivar brought back to life, a tribute to those who had been unfairly forgotten.

Notes
On the nose: bouquets of jasmine and become very apparent even before you draw the glass closer. A strong femininity comes to mind as you go in for the smell rounded off by a very light oak aroma. Palate: a creamy smoothness envelops your mouth as the wine rolls down the tongue and immediately followed by an expression of ripe yellow fruit. The wild barrel fermented component brings about an unparallel balance of fruit and acidity attributed from the inoculated stainless-steel component. The wine develops ever more complex as it opens up in the glass.

Sangiovese Rose
Notes
On the nose: “strawberry fields forever” – The Beatles Palate: an incredibly fruit driven wine with a very playful palate. Every sit seems to be be a bit different, varying greatly by only the temperature and oxygen contact. The mid palate is full and well rounded. This dry Rose carries beautiful characteristics from both its parents’ Sangiovese and Sauvignon blanc. The sauvignon blanc offering abundant fruit and fresh acidity while the Sangiovese lends it complex tannin structure as well as ripe red summer berries. The red apple like tannin structure is unique to the Monterosso rose allowing us to produce an easily enjoyable wine that is still serious enough to analyze over a beautiful meal.
